The MG TD was made in England from 1949 to 1953 and helped establish the sports car craze in America. Powered by a 1250 cc inline 4 cylinder engine with a 4 speed manual transmission. The TD combined the TC drivtrain with modified hyphoid geared rear axle with the MG Y-type chassis and a familiar T-type styled body. An independent front suspension using coil springs in front was new, based on that fitted to the MG Y-type saloon, as was rack & pinion steering. For 1953 bumpers and over riders were standard.
